Sunshower

1. Volcano

(Zac Colwell)

Put my hand on a mountain

Pulled the top right off

I made a new volcano roar

I could never do this before

Raced back down to the town below

To try to warn your mom

I made a new volcano roar

Just heard static on the intercom

Get out of the house

Threw a rock at your window

Your brother looked to see

Hey, "I made a new volcano roar,"

How come no one believes me

Your father watched from the front porch

I put my hand to the sky

"That's where I make your daughter soar,"

He must have misunderstood me

Get out of my house

He told me how his generation won the war

He asked me what I've done with my life so far

I didn't answer quick so he shut the door

2. Lights Go Out

(Zac Colwell)

Last night was a sleepless one

And the rain had me thinking that the sun would never come

A white flash split the sky in two

And my heart beat louder than the thunder

When I would think of you

Of you and your new man

Now every time I see you two together I fall apart

And the lights go out

The phone's busy every time I call

And it looks like the sun is gonna rise after all

So I pull the blinds down

I know I set the alarm to ring

But with my eyes unfocused on the ceiling I can't hear anything

Except the voice in my head saying that

"Everybody told you they all knew it right from the start"

Now every time I see you two together I fall apart

And the lights go out

I pull aside the curtain, see a snake on the floor

You say you don't know how it got inside the door

You lied about the things that everybody else knows

Got me running in circles everywhere I go

And the lights go out

3. Flaming Arrow

(Zac Colwell/David Heilman)

From 12 stories high I watch the smoke against the sky

And the daytime turns into dark

Now, who would've thought - after all that kerosene I bought -

That it would only take one flaming arrow to hit the mark

Now I just watch your building on fire

I hate to say I told you so, but

You build me up and you burn me down

So I take the trick you play and turn it around

You build me up and you burn me down

And you know I love to watch you rolling on the ground

You give what you get, guess you haven't learned that lesson yet

Or maybe do I have that the other way around?

The fire I set - I see it hasn't reached your room yet

And I know you'd never survive the fall all the way to the ground

I know you haven't replaced your alarm

Now I just watch your building on fire

I hate to say I told you so, but

You build me up and you burn me down

So I take the trick you play and turn it around

You build me up and you burn me down

And you know I love to watch you rolling on the ground

From 12 stories high I watch the smoke clear from the sky

And the dark day turns back to bright

Your cat licks its claws, cleans the soot from off its paws

And the news helicopters linger through the night

You build me up and you burn me down

So I take the trick you play and turn it around

You build me up and you burn me down

And you know I love to watch you rolling on the ground

I know you love to watch me rolling on the ground

4. Made In A Day

(K Ishibashi)

The day it was explained to me

I understood it finally

I got the letter in the mail

I saw the stamp, I knew I'd failed

In a way it was better than today, it was a special day

It was the last time that I smiled

In a day, we were made in a day

I used to think this world was for me to save

Then I grew and I grew and everything I knew was a simple thing

It was the same old silly game

I thought it was the lemonade but nothing really came to my aid

Nothing really came

It's all a silly game

Oh you silly world

Are you famous to the stars?

Born a little girl

You woke up as a single mother

Just a name, everybody has a name

It's a useful thing but to me they're the same

All alone and I'm waiting at the phone

As the seconds pass I grow heavy like a stone

I wish it was the time of year

But everything was crystal clear

Everything was clear

Nothing more to fear

Oh you silly world

Are you famous to the stars?

Born a little girl

I remembered everything you said

You woke up on the other side of the bed

Oh you world

Sleep all you can

You'll wake up as a single mother

5. Anna

(Zac Colwell)

The last one was like a distant sun

He had you wondering how a star can burn out

When it's just begun

It may seem like you never learn from your mistakes

But when a heart gets drunk on a face and some words

Then a picture forms, doesn't take too long

Anna you're in love again

You saw a lighthouse calling to you

Can you remember when you didn't swear it would never last

You told me from time to time

That your lighthouse would sometimes disappear

Now Anna, you're falling in love too fast

Late for work today, you say you walked the wrong way

What are you thinking ‘bout, girl, when a voice breaks through

Clears the daydreams away

A distant light, sometimes a foghorn in the night

Is your reminder you were just a child when you know

That you needed someone to prove you wrong

But you didn't know it would take so long

Anna you're in love again

You saw a lighthouse calling to you

Can you remember when you didn't swear it would never last

You told me from time to time

That your lighthouse would sometimes disappear

Now Anna, you're falling in love too fast

6. Simple Stones

(Zac Colwell)

They leave us so, with no goodbye, to the way we took

Let's light a fire, make the forest glow

Watch the stars and the way they look

My heartbeat shakes the liquid in the cup you hold

Did your coffee get too cold?

You just pour it out and mark the ground

This is our ground

Seems like I was waiting to hear you say

"I'm right here next to you,"

Ok. I piece it together sometimes

When I'm right here next to you...Aha!

You purse your lips and blow the steam into my eyes

A tree beside the fire is bare,

So much better with no disguise

My heartbeat shakes the liquid in the cup you hold

And the branches in the cold

While a leaf drops down -the last one of the season

Seems like I was waiting to hear you say

"I'm right here next to you,"

Ok. I piece it together sometimes

When I'm right here next to you...Aha!

Seems like such a simple little thing to say -

"I'm right here next to you,"

Ok, but I could build a fortress with simple stones

Right here next to you, you know

Can you see me

Can you feel me

Can you hear me

Can you know me

Can you love me

Can you show me

Can you tell me

I'm right here next to you

7. High Plains Drifter Finds The Oracle At Delphi

(Zac Colwell)

The rain outside my window

Was a sound I'd never heard before

I kissed your hand in the graveyard

I laid you down in the grass below, and said,

"Follow down the steps to come see where I'm going

No one knows but us"

The sun inside your iris

Was a sight I'd never seen before

A well was brought from the ocean

But no one could find a place to dig

I'll show you down the steps to come see women talk through

Clouds of ethylene

Follow down the steps to come see where I'm going

No one knows but us

No one knows but us

The chants outside my window

Were from kids I'd never seen before

They washed their feet in the water

I watch them from my window

See my bed turn into burning branches

See my hazel eyes turn grey

No one knows but us

I've been finding things I've left before

I've been learning things I've learned before

I've been loving things I've loved before

I told my life to the priestess

She finished it from the other end

We dropped our tears on the tombstones

They shone like tiny passages

She said, "Follow down the steps to come see

Women talk through clouds of ethylene"

Follow down the steps to come see where I'm going

No one knows but us

8. Find Me A Place

(K Ishibashi)

Find me a place where the wind never blows

And I'll kiss you again

And I'll kiss you again

Under the tree on the side of the road

And I'll love you again

I'll learn to love you again

All the magic

It was so suddenly a different shade of blue

Call it tragic

The only thing I had was the memory of you

All the worries were buried inside a deeper part of me

These are chapters in the saddest story

When I met you

You were the only song I'd ever want to sing

When I touched you

I couldn't think of any better place to be

But when I missed you

It's the only time I felt a part of me

That was living its life that's meant to be

9. Come On

(Zac Colwell)

Oh, I said everything I wanted to

I said everything I didn't want, too

But I meant every word

But I know that underneath that sad, sad girl

Is a woman of the wide, wide world

‘Cause I've seen her before

Come on, come around

‘Cause you know too much to be down

Come on, come around

You've been through too much to be down down down

So come on, you've been in bed for days now

And I've tried so many ways now

To get you back on your feet

And I know you know you'll feel better if you

Hear the truth from me

I could try to put it gently but I'll be ignored again

So come on, come around

‘Cause you know too much to be down

Come on, come around

You've been through too much to be down down down

You shouldn't say it's a curse

You shouldn't claim that you have it worse

Than anybody else ‘cause you never try

No you never even try

10. Strange Teacher

(Zac Colwell)

Rainbow, rainbow, doing what you know

None of us can tell you what to do or when to show

Sunset, sunset, wipes the rainbow clean

And makes the loudest noise I've ever seen

You can turn me into that

Teacher, teacher, I'm old enough to learn

You told me that the rainbow never speaks before its turn

Stranger, stranger, tell me what you see

When I look in the mirror I see myself so differently

You can turn me into that

You return me to another time

When I was a crewman on a Syrian line

Once in a while your laugh would reach me across a thousand ocean miles

11. People In The Mountain, People Of The Ocean

(K Ishibashi)

Long time ago...

we went down to Mexico

and so we stayed

and so we prayed

Under the sun

we were bound to have some fun

but then it rained

Oh it rained

All I'd wanted was some time alone

With my arm around you my dear

But it was only a state of mind, you see

And the people

in the mountain

singing...

When we were sad...

we walked down the only path

‘til our feet were in the sand

Through ocean breeze

The sun was only there to tease

‘cause then it rained

Oh it rained

All I'd wanted, was some time alone

With my heart here for you and for me

But it was only a state of mind, you see

And the people

of the ocean

singing...
